Gardner-Johnson registered four tackles (two solo) during the Bears' 19-17 win over the Vikings on Sunday.
Gardner-Johnson played every single defensive snap for the first time since Week 1 as a member of the Texans, and he finished tied for the fourth most tackles on the Bears during Sunday's win. In three games with Chicago, Gardner-Johnson has accumulated 19 tackles (14 solo), including 3.0 sacks, and one forced fumble.

The 27-year-old signed with the Bears' active roster Wednesday after being dropped from the Ravens' practice squad on Oct. 14. With Kyler Gordon (groin/calf) moving to IR, Gardner-Johnson is expected to take over as the Bears' top slot corner. The Florida product is likely to help a Chicago defense that already leads the NFL in takeaways (16), as he forced seven turnovers over 16 regular-season games with the Eagles in 2024.

Bears' C.J. Gardner-Johnson: Headed to Chicago
The Bears signed Gardner-Johnson to their active roster Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Gardner-Johnson has now joined his third team this season, as he was cut by the Texans in late September and dropped from the Ravens' practice squad in mid-October. The veteran safety appeared in 16 regular-season games with the Eagles in 2024, recording 59 total tackles and 12 passes defended, including six interceptions. He will provide much-needed depth in the Bears' secondary, as Jaylon Johnson (groin), Kyler Gordon (groin/calf) and Terell Smith (knee) are all currently on injured reserve.

The move comes despite Gardner-Johnson playing at least 94 percent of the Texans' defensive snaps in each of the first three games of the regular season, during which he accumulated 15 tackles (11 solo). Gardner-Johnson will explore his next options and should garner interest from teams looking to solidify their depth at safety. M.J. Further tests on Gardner-Johnson's knee didn't reveal significant damage, and there is optimism that he could be available for the Texans' regular-season opener against the Rams on Sept. 7, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Gardner-Johnson was carted off the field during Thursday's practice after suffering a knee injury. Tests did not reveal any ACL damage, and it appears the 2019 fourth-rounder has avoided a serious injury. Gardner-Johnson will not play in any of the Texans' preseason games while he works on being fully healthy for Week 1. With Gardner-Johnson, Jimmie Ward (foot) and Jaylen Reed (leg) sidelined, M.J.
