Angels' Jon Jay: Designated for assignment

Jay was designated for assignment by the Angels on Friday.

Anthony Rendon (knee) will be returning from his latest stint on the injured list, which spells the end of Jay's tenure on the active and 40-man rosters. Jay has five hits in 14 trips to the plate so far this year and another team could look at bringing in the veteran for depth.
