The Giants optioned Matos to minor-league camp Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The 21-year-old outfield prospect slashed .211/.275/.344 through 407 plate appearances with High-A Eugene last season and has already shown enough potential to warrant a spot on the Giants' 40-man roster. Matos went 6-for-24 at the plate this spring with a home run, and he will likely return to Eugene for the start of 2023 with a shot at reaching the Double-A level at some point.
