Jake Diekman: Cut loose by New York

The Mets released Diekman on Saturday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Diekman was designated for assignment Monday, and he'll now hit the open market after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 37-year-old southpaw owns a 5.63 ERA and 1.47 WHIP through 32 innings on the season.
