Peavy, who is unsigned at this point, is still hoping to find a team to pitch for in 2017, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports.
After a rough year personally and professionally in 2016, Peavy is taking time to be with his family before he returns to the diamond. "It hurts not to be in spring training," Peavy said. "I know that day is coming, but right now being a dad is absolutely No. 1." The 35-year-old posted a career-worst 5.54 ERA across 118.2 innings with the Giants last year, but is hoping he is healthier and more well-rested for the upcoming season. He has said he is not yet ready to commit to a team, but he has been working out and will hold a showcase when he is ready.
