Padres' Drew Carlton: Shifts to 60-day IL

Carlton (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Monday.

Carlton was bumped to the 60-day IL to make room on the 40-man roster for Ben Gamel. This means Carlton won't be eligible for activation until Sept. 1, though it's unclear how close he is to a full recovery. The right-hander has been shut down with right elbow inflammation.
