Sam Freeman: Cut loose by K.C.

The Royals released Freeman from his minor-league contract Wednesday.

Freeman was removed from Triple-A Omaha's roster so the organization could clear a spot for catcher Jakson Reetz, who was assigned to the affiliate after reaching a minor-league deal with Kansas City. Prior to being cut loose, the 35-year-old lefty reliever posted a 1.50 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 32:21 K:BB across 36 innings for Omaha.
