Crochet (2-4) did not retire a batter and allowed four runs on four hits to pick up the loss Tuesday against the Pirates. Crochet, who has been very good out of the bullpen, was entrusted to pitch the seventh after the White Sox took a 3-2 lead in the top half of the inning. However, the left-hander permitted four consecutive singles and was replaced by Aaron Bummer, who gave up a hit that produced the fourth run charged to Crochet. It was the third straight outing in which Crochet allowed at least one run, and it raised his season ERA from 1.19 to 2.78.
Crochet (2-2) picked up the win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday, throwing a perfect eighth inning and striking out two in a 6-1 victory. Crochet was the pitcher of record when the White Sox plated five in the bottom of the eighth to earn the rookie's second win of the season. He hasn't allowed a run in his last 13 innings (12 appearances), striking out 16 but walking nine during that run.
Crochet struck out two over two scoreless innings in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to Cleveland. On the day it was announced that Crochet would make only single-inning appearances, the left-hander shut down Cleveland over two perfect innings. His usage may be more about pitch count than innings. He needed just seven pitches to dispatch Cleveland batters in the seventh inning, then came out for a second frame.
Crochet will be limited to single-inning outings going forward and will not pitch back-to-back days, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. The flame-throwing lefty has only made two appearances of more than an inning this season, and he's yet to pitch on consecutive days. Crochet clearly has the talent to be an oft-utilized, high-leverage reliever, but the White Sox appear to be conserving his arm for the time being.
Crochet (1-2) earned his first win Tuesday, striking out one over two-thirds of an inning in a 9-3 victory over the Twins. Crochet entered a tie game with one out and men at the corners in the top of the sixth inning. The left-hander induced a shallow fly to right field then a strikeout, keeping the score knotted up and setting the stage for the White Sox to take the lead in the bottom half of the inning. This was Crochet's first outing since being activated off the injured list.
