Crowe allowed one earned run on one hit and one walk while striking out three across two innings Wednesday against the Cubs. He did not factor into the decision. Crowe served as the opener and worked two fairly effective innings before giving way to Mitch Keller. Crowe served up a solo home run to Ian Happ but struck out three of the final four batters he faced. While he started the season strong, Crowe has allowed seven earned runs across his last eight appearances spanning 9.2 innings, which has inflated his overall ERA to 2.74 across 23 frames.

Crowe (1-1) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and no walks while striking out one to take the loss Wednesday against the Brewers. Crowe entered the game in the seventh inning and immediately got into trouble by surrendering singles to the first two batters he faced. It appeared that he induced a potential double-play ball from the next batter, but Yoshi Tsutsugo failed to field the grounder cleanly. That allowed a run to score and the rally to continue. Prior to this appearance, Crowe had not allowed an earned run across his first 13.1 innings. Even after a bit of a struggle Wednesday, he still owns a 0.63 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with a 17:4 K:BB across 14.1 frames.

Crowe (1-0) allowed one hit and struck out five across 2.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Thursday against the Cubs. Crowe entered the game in the fourth inning in relief of Bryse Wilson. He struck out five of the eight batters he faced and induced six swinging strikes on a total of 45 pitches. Crowe has yet to allow an earned run across five appearances and 12.1 frames this season while compiling a strong 15:4 K:BB. He has thrown multiple innings in each of his outings, but has been capped at around 50 pitches. As the Pirates search for an optimal combination in their rotation, it's possible Crowe enters the mix if he continues to prove effective in longer stints.

Crowe allowed one hit and one walk while striking out four across three innings to earn the save Wednesday against the Cubs. Crowe was called upon to pitch the final three innings of Pittsburgh's 6-2 win, and he was able to secure the first save of his career as a result. Though Crowe didn't earn a spot in the rotation to begin the season, he has already made three multi-inning appearances out of the bullpen. He has yet to allow an earned run across seven frames while also posting a solid 9:3 K:BB.

Crowe pitched six shutout innings in a no-decision versus Cincinnati on Friday. He allowed just one hit and two walks with nine strikeouts. The right-hander saved his best start of the year for last. The three baserunners he allowed was the lowest total in his 26 appearances, while the nine strikeouts matched a season high. Crowe typically didn't have that much success in 2021, posting a 5.48 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 111:57 K:BB across 116.2 innings. He finishes the season with a 4-8 record, while a 4.4 BB/9 and a 1.9 HR/9 can explain most of his overall poor ratios.
