  • Matt Shaw SS | CHC

Cubs' Matt Shaw: Getting day off

Shaw is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Minnesota.

Shaw had started each of the previous seven contests but will get a breather Wednesday. The Cubs will turn to Jon Berti at third base.

  • Mark Vientos DH | NYM

Mets' Mark Vientos: Sitting again versus right-hander

Vientos is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Baltimore.

The Orioles are starting right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano, marking the fourth straight game in which Vientos is absent from the lineup while the Mets face a righty. He's gone just 2-for-27 with a 0:9 BB:K since coming off the injured list June 27 and looks to have moved into a short-side platoon role. Ronny Mauricio will start at third base and bat seventh Wednesday.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Back in St. Louis lineup

Arenado (shoulder) will start at third base and bat fifth in Wednesday's game versus the Nationals.

Arenado missed the previous three contests with a right shoulder impingement and was also out of commission for a couple games last week due to a finger issue. However, he's feeling well enough to give it a go Wednesday.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Expected back in lineup Wednesday

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Tuesday that he would be "surprised" if Arenado (shoulder) is not back in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Nationals, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Arenado missed a third straight start Tuesday due to a right shoulder impingement, but the third baseman said he felt "drastically" better than he did during the Cardinals' scheduled off day Monday. Barring a setback, it sounds like Arenado will be back at the hot corner Wednesday.

  • Ronny Mauricio 2B | NYM

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Slugs fourth homer

Mauricio went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Orioles.

The 24-year-old infielder got the Mets on the board when he took Brandon Young deep to lead off the sixth inning. Mauricio has only started three of New York's last seven games, but he's come off the bench in two others during that stretch and could be forcing his way back into consistent playing time with his performance at the plate. Over his last 10 contests, Mauricio is slashing .344/.417/.594 with two doubles, two of his four homers on the year, three RBI, seven runs and a very palatable 19.4 percent strikeout rate against an 11.1 percent walk rate.

  • Caleb Durbin 3B | MIL

Brewers' Caleb Durbin: Sitting down Tuesday

Durbin isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.

Durbin has been turning things around at the plate over the past few weeks, but he'll get a chance to regroup after going 0-for-6 over his last two games. Andruw Monasterio will take over at the hot corner and bat eighth.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Held out of lineup again Tuesday

Arenado (shoulder) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.

Arenado missed the final two games of the weekend series against the Cubs with a right shoulder impingement and had an extra day of rest with the Cardinals being idle Monday. Manager Oliver Marmol said Arenado is feeling better and hopes to avoid the 10-day injured list, but more will be known about his status Wednesday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Nolan Gorman is at third base and batting fifth for St. Louis.

  • Giants' Casey Schmitt: Logs RBI in return

Schmitt went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk in Monday's 3-1 win over the Phillies.

Schmitt returned to big-league action after being officially placed on the 10-day injured list June 30 (retroactive to June 27) due to left hand inflammation. The infielder drew a walk in the second and added a single in the sixth. The 26-year-old later grounded into a fielder's choice in the eighth, though he drove in the go-ahead run. Schmitt is now slashing .277/.365/.436 with 16 RBI, 13 runs scored and four home runs across 116 plate appearances.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Reaches milestone with 2,000th hit

Machado went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Machado reached a personal milestone when he singled in the fourth inning for his 2,000th career MLB regular-season hit. The veteran third baseman rounded out his big day with a solo homer in the eighth frame, giving him 357 career homers. Per The Athletic MLB, Machado is the 17th player in MLB history to reach 350 homers and 2,000 hits before his 33rd birthday. The recently named All-Star is having another standout season, slashing .293/.354/.484 with 15 homers, 53 RBI, 54 runs and eight stolen bases through 384 plate appearances.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: First RBI in 12 starts

McMahon went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI on Monday against the Red Sox.

McMahon entered the game having failed to record an RBI in his last 12 starts and 14 games. He's hit just .125 in that span with a 38.5 percent strikeout rate, though he at least managed to drive in a run with a single in the sixth inning of Monday's contest. McMahon has had a disastrous season overall, posting a career-low .684 OPS with only 26 RBI across 89 games.
