Timberwolves' Greg Monroe: Joining Wizards on Thursday

Monroe, whose 10-day contract with the Timberwolves ends following Wednesday's game against the Thunder, plans to sign a 10-day deal with the Wizards on Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
The Wolves are nearly at full health, so the organization with no longer need Monroe's services once his deal expires. That said, Monroe is still expected to be available for Minnesota's game Wednesday, though he's unlikely to be included in the rotation if Karl-Anthony Towns (COVID-19 health and safety protocols) gains clearance to return to the lineup. Meanwhile, the Wizards have been hit harder by COVID-19-related absences of late, and Monroe would be a prime candidate to fill in for Montrezl Harrell (illness) as the top backup center behind starter Daniel Gafford in the short term.
