  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Exits early with foot soreness

Carrington logged 15 minutes in Tuesday's 126-109 loss to the Hornets, finishing with six points (2-3 FG, 2-3 3Pt), five rebounds and two assists before exiting due to right foot soreness, according to Varun Shankar of The Washington Post. Carrington exited Tuesday's loss with 5:31 remaining in the fourth quarter and did not check back in due to the foot issue. The Wizards don't play again until Friday's game against the Raptors, and the team is expected to provide an update on the 20-year-old point guard's status by Thursday night.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Retreats to bench

Carrington isn't starting in Tuesday's game against Charlotte. Bilal Coulibaly is returning from an ankle sprain Tuesday, and he will push Carrington to the bench. Carrington has averaged 6.3 points, 3.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 23.8 minutes per contest through 16 games off the bench this season.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Nets 21 points with four treys

Carrington compiled 21 points (7-11 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 3-5 FT), five rebounds, four assists, one block and one turnover across 40 minutes during Sunday's 124-113 loss to the Spurs. This was Carrington's sixth straight game reaching double figures in the scoring department, and his second over the past three with at least one block. The second-year guard has been playing well since being re-inserted into the starting lineup, scoring 17.0 points per game on 49.3 percent shooting to go with 4.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.0 triples per contest.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Another solid stat line

Carrington recorded 14 points (4-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven rebounds and four assists across 35 minutes during Saturday's 130-122 win over the Grizzlies. Carrington made a fifth consecutive start for the banged-up Wizards, and he tied his season high in rebounds. He's scored in double figures in each of those five starts, averaging 16.6 points, 5.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds across 36.4 minutes during that span. With Bilal Coulibaly (ankle) and Khris Middleton (knee) getting healthier, Carrington could eventually lose his first-unit spot; however, with both players out for Sunday's game against the Spurs, he should retain that role versus San Antonio.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Underwhelms again Saturday

Carrington supplied eight points (3-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt), three rebounds and four assists over 24 minutes during Saturday's 121-120 loss to the Bulls. Carrington continues to play a limited role off the bench, having logged fewer than 25 minutes in five straight games. After a serviceable rookie campaign, Carrington has slipped down the pecking order in Washington, averaging just 6.3 points, 4.1 assists and 1.3 three-pointers through his first 16 games.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Another lackluster performance

Carrington had seven points (3-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 0-1 FT), one rebound, two assists and one steal in 19 minutes during Wednesday's 135-112 loss to Houston. Carrington logged the fewest amount of minutes all season Wednesday, and he was not able to do much with his time on the court. While it is likely his minutes were cut short due to the blowout nature of the game, Carrington needs to improve his efficiency if he wants to remain in the rotation, as he is averaging just 6.5 points on 32.5 percent from the field.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Not starting Saturday

Carrington is not in the Wizards' starting lineup against the Mavericks on Saturday. Carrington will cede his spot in the starting lineup to Tre Johnson. Carrington made his fifth start of the season during Friday's 148-114 loss to the Cavaliers, when he logged six points (2-12 FG, 2-7 3Pt), 11 assists, four rebounds and one block over 28 minutes.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Dishes six dimes in loss

Carrington racked up three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3Pt), five rebounds and six assists in 31 minutes during Wednesday's 136-107 loss to the Celtics. Assist numbers aside, Carrington has been rather underwhelming offensively ever since being relegated to the bench, averaging 3.3 points on 27.8 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from three in his last four games. With CJ McCollum also struggling, the Wizards could turn to Carrington to shake things up in their starting lineup, but in order for that to happen, the 2024 first-round pick would have to give them reason to.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Rookie team option exercised

The Wizards exercised their rookie option on Carrington for the 2026-27 season Thursday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports. Carrington has made an impact since being drafted by Washington in the summer of 2024, averaging 9.8 points, 4.4 assists and 4.2 rebounds in his rookie season. Despite the Wizards selecting Tre Johnson in 2025, the team opting to keep Carrington for at least one more season displays their level of trust in the second-year guard.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Muted performance in loss

Carrington ended with 11 points (4-9 FG, 3-4 3Pt), five rebounds, two assists and one steal across 29 minutes during Wednesday's 133-120 loss to the Bucks. Carrington joins CJ McCollum as starters who didn't make much of an impact in the regular-season opener. However, Carrington has been dealing with left knee soreness, which may have contributed to his slow start to the 2025-26 campaign.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Full practice participant Sunday

Carrington (knee) was a full participant in practice Sunday, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports. Carrington left Thursday's preseason game early and was limited in Saturday's practice due to left knee soreness but participated fully Sunday. While his official status will be confirmed closer to tipoff, this development is an encouraging sign for his availability for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Bucks.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Won't return Thursday

Carrington has been ruled out for the remainder of Thursday's preseason game against the Pistons due to left knee soreness, Varun Shankar of The Washington Post reports. Carrington needed help off the court after suffering the injury, so this diagnosis is a positive one for the Wizards. He can be considered day-to-day until the team provides another update on his status. Washington opens the regular season in Milwaukee on Wednesday.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Exits to locker room Thursday

Carrington exited to the locker room after sustaining an apparent left leg injury in the first quarter of Thursday's preseason game against the Pistons, Varun Shankar of The Washington Post reports. Carrington landed awkwardly on his left leg and was helped to the locker room. If he's unable to return, Tre Johnson and Malaki Branham are candidates for a bump in minutes the rest of the way.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Ready for training camp

Wizards general manager Will Dawkins said Wednesday that Carrington (rest) will be ready for training camp, Chase Hughes of Monumental Sports Network reports. Carrington was rested quite often in the Summer League, as the Wizards pretty much know what they have here. Carrington is penciled in as a starter alongside CJ McCollum in the backcourt, though it will be interesting to see how hard he's pushed by rookie Tre Johnson.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Sniffs triple-double Sunday

Carrington closed Sunday's 119-118 victory over the Heat with 15 points (6-18 FG, 3-9 3Pt), seven rebounds, nine assists and one steal over 41 minutes. The 14th overall pick in the 2024 Draft scored in double digits for the seventh straight game to close out his first NBA campaign in style, and even laid in the winning bucket Sunday as time expired. Since moving into the starting five March 22, Carrington has averaged 14.0 points, 6.2 assists, 5.2 boards, 2.4 threes and 0.9 combined steals and blocks, more than respectable numbers for a teenager. The Pitt product has put himself in a good position to remain in the Wizards' starting backcourt when next season tips off.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Dishes out career-high 11 assists

Carrington finished with 18 points (7-15 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, 11 assists and one block across 35 minutes during Friday's 119-89 loss to the Bulls. Carrington had one of the best games of his rookie campaign during Friday's blowout loss to the Bulls, as his career-high 11 assists helped him post just his second double-double of the season. Carrington has also shot 42.2 percent on 6.4 three-point attempts per contest across his previous 10 outings.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Comes close to triple-double

Carrington closed with eight points (3-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt), eight rebounds, nine assists and three steals in 38 minutes during Monday's 120-94 loss to the Heat. Carrington didn't have a good shooting performance, and his final stat line wasn't eye-popping by any means. However, the rookie continues to show the ability to impact the game on both ends of the court, and he finished just two points, two boards and one assist away from finishing with a triple-double in this blowout loss. Carrington has started in each of the Wizards' last six games, averaging 9.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game over that span.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Decent showing in loss

Carrington ended with 15 points (6-15 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 11 rebounds, six assists and two steals in 31 minutes during Monday's 112-104 loss to the Raptors. Carrington recorded his fourth double-double of the season in the loss, but he's still stuck in a brutal shooting slump. Over his last six games, Carrington is hitting 30.9 percent from the field with averages of 6.5 points, 5.0 assists, 4.7 rebounds, 0.7 blocks and 0.5 steals.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Back in starting unit

Carrington is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Knicks. Carrington has been moving in and out of the bench of late, but he'll be part of the first unit in this one with Khris Middleton (ankle) sidelined. Carrington is averaging 9.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game in his five starts this month.

  • Wizards' Bub Carrington: Returning to bench

Carrington isn't in the starting five for Friday's game versus the Magic. Carrington started in Washington's previous outing but will head back to the bench with Khris Middleton and Kyshawn George returning to the lineup. Carrington is averaging 8.9 points, 3.7 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 24.9 minutes across his last 10 appearances coming off the bench.
