Horton-Tucker closed with 40 points (15-28 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 8-9 FT), three rebounds, three assists and four steals across 37 minutes during Thursday's 128-112 loss to the Warriors. The Lakers were without LeBron James (ankle), Anthony Davis (foot) and Russell Westbrook (shoulder) on Thursday, giving Horton-Tucker the chance to move into the starting lineup and feature as the team's offensive centerpiece. The 21-year-old ran with the opportunity, taking the most shots and scoring the most points of his brief NBA career. The Lakers have been eliminated from postseason contention, so it wouldn't be surprising if they sat their stars for the remainder of the campaign and gave role players like Horton-Tucker a chance to shine.
