Bears' Jake Martin: Opening season on IR

Martin (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve by the Bears on Tuesday, Larry Mayer of the team's official website reports.

Martin failed to log any stats in the preseason after signing with the Bears in March, suffering an undisclosed injury at some point. The defensive lineman will now be forced to miss at least Chicago's first four games of the regular season before he'd be eligible to return Week 5 against the Panthers on Oct. 6.
