  • Falcons' Grady Jarrett: Signs franchise tag
    By RotoWire Staff

Jarrett agreed to sign his $15.2 million franchise tag tender Monday, Matthew Tabeek of the Falcons' official site reports. Jarrett's consent to the franchise tag guarantees he'll remain in Atlanta for 2019 and is a step in the right direction for the two sides to agree to terms of a lucrative multi-year contract. This objective is evidenced by general manager Thomas Dimitroff saying back in March, "Our aim is for (Jarrett) to be an integral part of our plan for many years to come and this allows us to extend our negotiating window." A versatile contributor with 23 tackles for loss and 29 quarterback hits over the past two seasons, Jarrett currently ranks as the NFL's fifth-best interior defensive lineman, per Pro Football Focus. His continued success will be essential to helping Atlanta improve upon a 25th-place finish in rush defense during 2018.

  • Falcons' Grady Jarrett: Receives franchise tag
    By RotoWire Staff

Jarrett received a franchise tag Monday from the Falcons, Kelsey Conway of the team's official site reports. The Falcons' decision to apply the franchise tag to Jarrett prevents him from hitting free agency in March and allows both sides more time to negotiate towards a long-term agreement. If Jarrett and the Falcons are unable to reach agreeable terms by July 15, Jarrett will play under a one-year deal for 2019 with his salary expected to land around $15.2 million. Jarrett flashed as one of the most disruptive defensive tackles in the NFL last season, logging 52 tackles (27 solo), six sacks and three forced fumbles across 14 games.

  • Falcons' Grady Jarrett: Candidate for franchise tag
    By RotoWire Staff

Coach Dan Quinn said Wednesday that Jarrett is a candidate for the Falcons' franchise tag, Jason Butt of The Athletic reports. The Falcons have until Tuesday to reach a new deal with Jarrett, so utilizing the franchise tag could if nothing else serve as a means of providing more time for both parties to strike a long-term agreement. For someone who had only two fewer quarterback hits in 2018 than perennial All-Pro linebacker Khalil Mack -- as an interior player, no less -- Jarrett's contract status will be one of Atlanta's most important topics of the offseason.

  • Falcons' Grady Jarrett: Free of injury designation
    By RotoWire Staff

Jarrett (groin/shoulder) was a full participant during Friday's practice, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports. After being limited during Wednesday's and Thursday's sessions, Jarrett participated in full Friday, and he does not carry an injury designation heading into a Week 16 road test against the Panthers. The excelling fourth-year defensive lineman has been playing his best ball of the season, collecting 16 tackles and three sacks over the past three weeks -- Jarrett's most tackles in a three-game span since racking up 18 between Weeks 7 and 9 of last season, while his six sacks on the year have already established a new career high. Carolina will look to lean on its No. 3 rushing attack Sunday (134.6 YPG) , with the untested Taylor Heinicke making his first career start at quarterback (five pass attempts across two seasons with Texans and Panthers).

  • Falcons' Grady Jarrett: Posts sack in win
    By RotoWire Staff

Jarrett recorded three tackles (one solo), including a sack, in Sunday's win over the Redskins. Jarrett now has three sacks on the season, all of them coming in the Falcons' last two games. He'll look to maintain his strong momentum into Week 10, when Atlanta faces off against Cleveland.
