Mike Tyson will have two playable characters in EA Sports UFC 2. (Youtube/EA Sports)

As if this game needed some more hype around it, EA Sports UFC 2 just upped the ante. The video game, scheduled to release later this spring announced Wednesday you will able to play use a range of characters including TWO versions of legendary boxer Mike Tyson.

Check out this sweet teaser trailer for the game.

So I have a couple of issues with this. I know, I know, Tyson is one of the greatest boxers of all time. The man ran through the heavyweight division in his prime. But that's just it, he was a pure boxer. But, creative director Brian Hayes does bring up a good point.

"When you think about the most devastating fighters of all time, Mike Tyson is either around, or at the top of everyone's list," Hayes said.

"It's fun to think that if MMA was as popular back when he was competing as it is today, you might have seen Tyson put on four ounce gloves and step into the Octagon. This is one of those great ‘what ifs' that we get to create when making a game like EA Sports UFC 2."

I still don't think there would be such an argument to be made. While both are niche markets, boxing in the early '90s was the thing to watch. I don't think MMA would have caught on in the way it has now.

It is cool that you can play with either "Iron" Mike Tyson or "Legacy" Mike Tyson. I think we know which one is better.
