The Premier League is staying on NBC. The TV rights to the league were extended for the NBC Sports Group through 2021-22, the company announced Monday.

It's a new six-year agreement. A report earlier in the day suggested ESPN and Fox, along with others, were set to make a joint bid for the rights. NBC's rights were set to end at the end of this season. They quickly dispelled any rumors with the announcement that a deal was reached.

"We are excited to continue our tremendous partnership with the Premier League, and we look forward to presenting the world's finest soccer league to Americans for many years to come," NBC Sports Group Chairman Mark Lazarus said in a release. "As sports fans, there's nothing better than waking up on a weekend morning to live and relevant events, and we at NBC Sports are thrilled to continue to be this outlet for the fast-growing Premier League fan base."

All 380 league games each season will continue on the network, with matches appearing on NBC Sports Network, NBC, USA and other NBC-owned networks, while also being available on NBC Sports Live Extra.

The network has received favorable reviews for its coverage of the league, including the performance of lead in-studio host Rebecca Lowe.

It's very good news for soccer fans in the US. NBC has performed well with its TV coverage of the games, bringing authentic, smart commentary and analysis.
