Report: Steven Gerrard to sign 18-month deal with L.A. Galaxy
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard revealed he'll be heading to MLS at season's end. Per a report, he's set to join the Galaxy on an 18-month deal.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will swap Merseyside for California. According to Jeffrey Carlisle of ESPN FC, the 34-year-old midfielder will join the Los Angeles Galaxy in what would be one of the most significant signings in MLS history.
Per the report, Gerrard will sign an 18-month pro-rated deal worth approximately $6 million per year. The deal needed approval from the MLS Board of Governors because the league will pick up $750,000 of Gerrard's deal, according to report.
Gerrard confirmed his exit at season's end on Friday. In an exclusive interview with the club's in-house television channel on Saturday, Gerrard revealed he'll leave Liverpool for a club stateside, though he didn't reveal what team he would sign with. With the retirement of Landon Donovan, the Galaxy had an open Designated Player spot, making them the favorite to sign the veteran midfielder. With the recent report of him joining the Galaxy, an announcement should come soon.
"I'll be going to play in America," Gerrard said, via LFC TV. "But I'm not over the line with any team just yet. I'm close and as soon as I know, I'll make the announcement."
Gerrard spent his entire youth and senior career at Anfield, joining his boyhood team at the age of 9. He led his club to a Champions League title, UEFA Cup, two FA Cups, three League Cups, one Community Shield and two UEFA Super Cups. He also logged 114 England caps before retiring after the 2014 World Cup. He scored 180 goals in 695 games with the Reds.
He's the only footballer ever in recent date to have scored a goal in an FA Cup Final, a League Cup Final, a UEFA Cup Final and a Champions League Final. Barring an incredible second half by the Reds, he'll leave Liverpool without ever lifting the Premier League trophy. In 19 games this season, Gerrard has scored five goals, handed out one assists and attempted 29 shots on goal. He bagged a brace in Liverpool's 2-2 draw to Leicester City on New Year's Day. Liverpool is currently in eighth place with 29 points through 20 matches.
