Tennis star Roger Federer has decided to withdraw from the Miami Open, his agent told the Miami Herald Friday.
His agent, Tony Godsick, said it was "100 percent a scheduling issue and physical preservation" for Federer to miss the tournament formerly known as the Sony Ericsson Open on Key Biscayne.
"He loves Miami, as much as he'd love to play every event, he can't," Godsick said.
Federer has won the tournament twice in 2005 and 2006. He lost in the quarterfinals in 2014 to Kei Nishikori. He has a career record of 44-13 at the event.
