Alex Gordon not looking as impressive below the surface

One of the things that makes Royals outfielder Alex Gordon such a valuable player in Points leagues is his ability to hit doubles. In the past two seasons, Gordon has hit 96 doubles, with 51 of those coming last year. This season, Gordon has just six doubles through 99 at-bats, putting him on pace for about 37 on the year. He's currently tied for 44th in the majors, with a host of other players.
Gordon still ranks in the top 10 among outfielders in points leagues, thanks to a .323 average. But Gordon's walk rate (4.8 percent, according to FanGraphs) is the lowest of his career, while he's striking out at his highest pace since 2010. Additionally, his BABIP is currently .397, which suggests his average may be due for a correction (downward). On top of all this, Gordon's line drive rate is his lowest since 2009, while his GB/FB ratio is 1.5, the highest it's been in his career.
In simpler terms, Gordon's not hitting as many doubles-causing line drives as he used to, and he's putting the ball on the ground more often than he did before. Unfortunately for his owners, his doubles being down may be a sign of uglier things to come.
