As anticipated, Braves right-hander Brandon Beachy will make his first major-league start of the season on Monday against the Rockies, tweets Dave O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Beachy, 26, underwent Tommy John surgery in June of last year.
Across parts of three major-league seasons, Beachy has pitched to a 3.07 ERA (127 ERA+), 1.14 WHIP and 3.07 K/BB ratio. As part of his recovery, Beachy made nine minor-league rehab starts across three different levels. In those starts he posted a 2.92 ERA but struggled at times with his command. While some fits and starts are to be expected after Tommy John, Beachy has a front-of-the-rotation track record.
Beachy's debut will come mere days after Tim Hudson was lost for the remainder of the season with a broken ankle.
As Ben Duronio noted on Twitter, Beachy's addition means that the Braves will now have an all-homegrown rotation.
