The Cubs recalled pitcher Rafael Soriano from Triple-A Iowa, the team announced on Sunday.
The Cubs signed Soriano as a free agent on June 9. He threw five scoreless innings at Double-A and two scoreless at Triple-A before getting called up to the majors.
To make room, the Cubs designated pitcher Edwin Jackson for assignment. Jackson was 2-1 with a 3.19 ERA in 23 relief appearances with the team.
