Former Pirates and Yankees pitcher Jeff Karstens, 32, announced on Twitter Sunday that he has officially retired from baseball

Karstens has not pitched in the major leagues since 2012, sidelined with a number of shoulder injuries that culminated with surgery to repair the labrum and rotator cuff in his right shoulder in 2013.

Karstens pitched in the major leagues from 2006-2012, posting a career record of 26-40 with a 4.44 ERA.
