Outfielder Carlos Gomez was out of the lineup Thursday with a sore right hip and groin, and Brewers manager Craig Counsell suggested he may rest Gomez in the team's upcoming weekend series or place him on the disabled list in order to let the injury heal, per the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Gomez didn't play for the sixth time in nine games, and according to Counsell, hasn't been improving.
"I just didn't think he was running that well yesterday during the game and we're not moving forward," Counsell said. "He just feels the same. We've got to get him back to a level where we feel like we're over this. Until he's at that point and he can play at that level, then I think we've got to be cautious."
Gomez is hitting .275 with five homers and 24 RBIs this season.
