Cord-cutting is so prevalent in today's sports watching world, alternative ways to watch our teams have become a must. Unfortunately, with the way that leagues are structured it isn't as simple as googling "Cubs vs. Brewers" stream without downloading something that makes your device into a brick.

As baseball season winds down, the Brewers are still alive in the NL Central and NL wild-card races, but time is running out as we approach the playoffs. Cubs vs. Brewers matchup

With the Cubs and the Brewers having 23 and 22 games remaining the season, respectively, the time is now for someone to emerge from the tight NL Central race. The Cubs can put some ground between themselves and the third-place Brewers by taking the upcoming series, whereas the Brewers could make it a race to remember if they're able to take two of three. If the Brewers are able to sweep the Cubs, they'll find themselves only 1 1/2 games back of Chicago. The Cardinals will be watching this series closely as well, as they're currently four games back of the Cubs. It's a three-team race in the Central, but if the Cubs take two of the upcoming three games they can make it a two-team race heading into the final weeks.

The Brewers are also a mere 2 1/2 games back of the Rockies in the wild-card race. The Diamondbacks are currently running away with the first slot, having gone 10-0 in their last 10 games, but the Rockies are 5-5 in their last 10. The Brewers are in the middle of a three-game slide, so they need this series to bolster their chances. The red-hot Cardinals have won four straight as they try to retain their spot in the playoffs.

This series has the potential to shape both wild card and NL Central races for the rest of the season. The Brewers aren't done with the Cubs after this though -- the two teams will meet once again in Milwaukee on Sep. 21-24 for a four-game series. If it's going to be meaningful in the context of the division, however, the Brewers need to win this series.
