Mets first baseman Eric Campbell worked out with catchers Saturday, and is expected to serve as the team's emergency option behind the plate this season, per ESPN.

Campbell has never caught professionally, but has appeared at six major league positions during his brief career. He has also pitched an inning for Triple-A Las Vegas in 2013. The Mets have not had a position player as a catcher since 2004.

Campbell hit .263 with three homers and 16 RBI over 190 at-bats in 2014.
