Mets closer Familia to miss several months following surgery

New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson announced Friday that closer Jeurys Familia had surgery for the arterial clot that had developed in his right shoulder.
Alderson said Familia would miss several months and might not return this season:

Familia had appeared in 11 games this season, during which he managed a 111 ERA+ and three saves. He was uncharacteristically wild, issuing seven unintentional walks in 9 1/3 innings.
Nevertheless, Familia's extended absence will test an overworked bullpen.
