The Royals beat the Orioles, 14-6, on Saturday thanks to a team effort of 14 hits, which included three doubles and two homers. Eight of the nine starters had at least one hit while four had a multi-hit game. The star of the show was Mike Moustakas.

Moose's line: 3 for 5, two HR, 3 R, 9 RBI

Wait, what?

Yes, nine RBI.

Here are the two homers, which included a grand slam and a three-run blast.

In a search over the course of the last 10 seasons, baseball-reference.com's play index finds five previous games where a hitter had at least nine RBI. Here's the list, in chronological order:

James Loney, 9 RBI, Sept. 28, 2006
Garret Anderson, 10 RBI, Aug. 21, 2007
Carlos Delgado, 9 RBI, June 27, 2008
Lonnie Chisenhall, 9 RBI, June 9, 2014
Edwin Encarnacion, 9 RBI, Aug. 29, 2015

So Moustakas joins that list, matching three others for the most RBI since Anderson had 10 in a game in 2007. That's a feat.

The record for RBI in a game (remember, RBI data is tough once we get back to the 1910s or even earlier) is 12. Mark Whiten did it in his four-homer game in 1993 and Jim Bottomley did it in 1924. There have been two instances of 11-RBI games and eight 10-RBI games. That means only 12 times in baseball history has a player had more RBI in a game than Moustakas did for the Royals on Saturday.
