MLB news and rumors for April 11: Evan Gattis to return Tuesday

Roster moves, transactions, etc.
Astros: Designated hitter Evan Gattis started the season on the disabled list following offseason hernia surgery, but he's ready for a return and in fact will be activated before Tuesday's game, manager A.J. Hinch told reporters (Brian McTaggart).
Braves: Mallex Smith took a helmet to the eye area (his own helmet, as he was attempting a steal and it bounced up) in his MLB debut on Monday. He needed five stitches, but it's possible he'll play Tuesday (Mark Bowman).
Dodgers: Micah Johnson was optioned to the minors to make room for Howie Kendrick, who is expected to be activated from the DL on Tuesday.
Injury updates
Astros: Lance McCullers threw 48 pitches in a Double-A rehab start as he comes back from shoulder inflammation (Jake Kaplan).
Athletics: Felix Doubront will have Tommy John surgery, the club announced.
Cardinals: Ruben Tejada could begin a rehab assignment "by the end of the week" while Tommy Pham could do do "late next week." (Cardinals.com)
Cubs: Javier Baez started his Triple-A rehab stint Monday (and hit a home run). Joe Maddon said the club wants him to get 20-25 at-bats before joining the big-league team (Patrick Mooney).
Indians: Michael Brantley will start a Double-A rehab assignment on Tuesday, which has to be great news for the Indians as he comes back from shoulder surgery (Paul Hoynes).
Mariners: Joaquin Benoit is dealing with shoulder soreness (Greg Johns).
Orioles: Adam Jones' rib injury again held him out of the game on Monday.
Red Sox: As Eduardo Rodriguez works his way back from a spring knee injury, he threw 36 pitches on Sunday and is set to throw three simulated innings on Wednesday (Brian McPherson).
Reds: Zack Cozart left Monday's game with tightness in his right quad (Mark Sheldon).
Tigers: Catcher James McCann has a right ankle sprain and "there's concern" he could miss some time (Jason Beck). Also, there are thre rehab stints of note here. Cameron Maybin and Alex Wilson are headed to Triple-A Tuesday (Jason Beck) while Daniel Norris is headed to Class-A Advanced for a start on Friday where he'll have a 55-pitch limit (Catherine Slonksnis).

Rangers: With Robinson Chirinos out for a while, they need catcher help. Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com hears that the Rangers are more likely to stay in house than make a splash from outside the organization.

Cubs: They finally have a new home clubhouse.
MLB Draft: Prep star Jason Groome is expected to be in the mix for the first overall pick this June. He threw quite well on Monday.
