Pirates slugger Andrew Lambo came into spring training with a great opportunity to potentially emerge with regular at-bats as the team's first baseman. His hopes of landing that role ended Tuesday when the Pirates optioned Lambo to Triple-A Indianapolis.
It was a rough camp for Lambo, who struggled offensively. He hit just .095 (4 for 42) with three RBI and three runs in 17 spring games.
