Left hander Joe Saunders has opted out of his contract with the Mariners' Triple-A team and is now a free agent, the organization has announed.
Saunders was released by the Mariners March 31 but then signed a minor league deal with Triple-A Tacoma.
Saunders made six relief appearances for Tacoma this season, going 0-3 with a 5.73 ERA.
