Report: Braves reliever Cristhian Martinez arrested for DUI

Atlanta Braves reliever Cristhian Martinez has been arrested on charges of DUI, reports He was pulled over after an improper lane change and "impeding the flow of traffic" and was booked at 4:24 a.m. ET into the Gwinnett County Jail Monday.

Martinez, 30, was a bit of a star reliever for the Braves this spring, putting together a 1.38 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 13 innings.

Last season, Martinez had a 3.36 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 58 strikeouts in 77 2/3 innings for the Braves. So while he's completely overshadowed by the back-end guys in the Braves bullpen -- Eric O'Flaherty, Jonny Venters and Craig Kimbrel -- Martinez is a productive relief pitcher.

The Braves have released the following statement:

"We were very concerned to learn of the arrest of Cristhian Martinez in Gwinnett County this morning. We will require him to be evaluated by an independent professional, as provided for in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Until we learn further details and have all the facts, we will withhold further comment at this time."

There are no further details on Martinez's arrest just yet.
