This has surely been an eye-opening summer for Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, who is serving his 162-game suspension and not playing baseball for the first time in his adult life. It's definitely a new experience for him, that's for sure.

All the spare time has given A-Rod a chance to pursue other interests, so, like many career-focused and job-seeking folks, he went ahead and created a LinkedIn page:

Founder, CEO and president of ARod Corp. sounds like a pretty sweet gig, no? You can see the full profile right here.

Obviously this is something that could easily be a fake, but thankfully Brian Costa of the Wall Street Journal was able to get to the bottom of the profile:

One person who has been in direct email contact with Rodriguez in the past received an email from the professional networking site last weekend with the subject line: "Alex Rodriguez just joined! Want to connect?" The e-mail went on to invite the person to "help welcome Alex and get connected."

...

A LinkedIn spokeswoman said the company has not been in touch with Rodriguez's camp to confirm it is an official page but said, "All signals indicate it is a real profile." Rodriguez's spokesman didn't respond to multiple requests for comment.

According to Costa, ARod Corp. is the listed owner of several trademarks involving the name Alex Rodriguez. A-Rod also owns a construction and property management company in Florida and is affiliated with a fitness center chain in Mexico.

As of this writing, A-Rod still has zero LinkedIn connections. That's not good for his #brand.
