Layne was immediately removed from the game and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. According to director of major league umpires Randy Marsh, via a Reds press release, all tests for Layne came back normal. For precautionary reasons, however, Layne will miss the rest of the Twins-Reds series and be temporarily replaced on the crew by Mark Lollo.
