  • Twins' James Beresford: Outrighted to Triple-A on Monday

Beresford was outrighted to Triple-A Rochester on Monday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Beresford got his first taste of the majors following a September call-up, but the Twins decided to cast him off the 40-man roster after he finished his fourth straight season at the Triple-A level. His defensive versatility is intriguing, but his lack of hitting prowess will likely relegate him to organizational depth.

Beresford was officially recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

As expected, Beresford will come up from Triple-A, where hit .269 on the season after posting an impressive .307 average in 2015. • Twins' James Beresford: Will be recalled Tuesday

Beresford is set to be called up from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Phil Miller of the Star Tribune reports.

Beresford has yet to play for the big club in his career. Coming off a 2015 campaign where he hit .307, Beresford's current line of .269/.330/.312 is certainly disappointing. When he comes up to the Twins, Beresford's playing time may be sparing as Brian Dozier and Jorge Polanco are ahead of him on the depth chart at second base.

Beresford hit his third double of spring training on Thursday, but is hitting just 9-for-42 in 24 exhibition games.
