  • Taylor Motter: Released by Reds

Motter was released by the Reds on Monday, Doug Gray of RedsMinorLeagues.com reports. Motter had spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Louisville before being released Monday, batting .250 with eight homers, 18 RBI and 12 runs over 132 at-bats over 39 games. The 32-year-old has big-league experience and will likely find another team in the near future.

  • Reds' Taylor Motter: Returned to Triple-A

Motter was returned to Triple-A Louisville on Monday. Motter joined the Reds for their three-game series in Toronto this past weekend after four players were placed on the restricted list Friday. He appeared in two games while going 1-for-6 at the dish. With Cincinnati returning to the United States and getting all of the players back from the restricted list in advance of its four-game series with the Cubs that begins Monday, Motter will lose his spot on the 26-man active roster in addition to the 40-man rosters.

  • Reds' Taylor Motter: Joins big club

Motter had his contract selected by the Reds on Friday. The 32-year-old will fill a role on the bench this weekend in Toronto with the Reds missing multiple players who cannot travel to Canada. Motter has a .245/.344/.566 slash line in 15 games at Triple-A Louisville this season and is unlikely to be a significant factor during his time in the majors.

  • Red Sox's Taylor Motter: Clears waivers

Motter was outrighted to Triple-A Worcester after clearing waivers Friday. Motter lost his spot on the 40-man roster earlier in the week after Danny Santana and Enrique Hernandez returned from the COVID-19 injured list. The infielder didn't garner any takers on the waiver wire, so he'll remain in the Boston organization at Triple-A going forward. Motter has appeared in 16 big-league games with the Red Sox and Rockies this season, logging five hits (two XBH), one RBI and five runs scored across 29 plate appearances.

  • Red Sox's Taylor Motter: Designated for assignment

Motter was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Tuesday, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports. Motter filled in for the Red Sox amid the team's current COVID-19 outbreak, but he'll be cast off the 40-man roster after Danny Santana (undisclosed) and Enrique Hernandez (illness) were reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list. He went 2-for-6 with a triple, a double, three runs and an RBI across three appearances with the Red Sox.

  • Red Sox's Taylor Motter: Plays prominent role

Motter started at second base, batted leadoff and went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, one RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 11-10 loss to the Rays. Motter provided a spark atop the order, but his glove did as much damage to the Red Sox as the Rays did. He committed throwing and fielding errors that led to a pair of unearned runs -- Tampa Bay scored six unearned runs in all. With Enrique Hernandez (COVID-19 protocols) expected back as early as Tuesday, Motter's roster spot or role will be impacted.

  • Red Sox's Taylor Motter: Scores game-winning run

Motter entered as a pinch runner and scored the game-winning run in Saturday's 4-3 win over Cleveland. Motter ran for pinch hitter Travis Shaw, who had singled, and eventually came around to score on Alex Verdugo's walkoff single. He joined the Red Sox Saturday as part of the expanded 28-man roster and plays enough positions to help the Red Sox deal with the team's COVID-19 outbreak.

  • Red Sox's Taylor Motter: Claimed by Boston

Motter was claimed off waivers by the Red Sox on Thursday. Motter was cast off the Rockies' 40-man roster Monday after he hit .150 across 13 major-league appearances this year. It wouldn't be surprising to see him join the big-league roster at some point if the Red Sox deal with additional absences in the midst of their current COVID-19 outbreak.

  • Rockies' Taylor Motter: Joins big-league club

The Rockies selected Motter's contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday. The 31-year-old has dominated Triple-A this season, slashing .335/.460/.759 with 24 home runs and 57 RBI in 265 at-bats. Motter's only big-league stint was in 2018, when he appeared in 17 games with the Mariners and Twins. The utility player figures to get some action in the outfield while Raimel Tapia (toe) spends time on the injured list.
