  • Angels' Zack Weiss: Contract selected by Halos

Weiss had his contract selected by the Angels on Thursday. Weiss has been at Triple-A Salt Lake all season and has a 4.50 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 65:21 K:BB across 50 innings. The 30-year-old's lone appearance in the big leagues came with Cincinnati in 2018.

  • Angels' Zack Weiss: Won't make Opening Day club

The Angels reassigned Weiss to minor-league camp Tuesday. Considering Weiss hasn't pitched in the majors since 2018, his exclusion from the Angels' Opening Day roster comes as little surprise. After inking a minor-league deal with the Halos earlier in the offseason, Weiss is expected to serve as organizational bullpen depth at Triple-A Salt Lake in 2022.

  • Angels' Zack Weiss: Continuing career with Halos

Weiss signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Nov. 28. After being cut loose by Cleveland last May, Weiss landed a minor-league deal with the Mariners and finished the campaign at Triple-A Tacoma, with whom he posted a 4.31 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 39.2 innings. The 29-year-old right-hander, who last appeared in the big leagues in 2018 with the Reds, will likely report to Triple-A Salt Lake with his new organization.

  • Indians' Zack Weiss: Signs minors deal with Cleveland

Weiss agreed to a minor-league contract with Cleveland on Tuesday. Weiss has a single MLB appearance under his belt, in which he faced four batters for the Reds back in 2018, walking two and allowing two homers. The 27-year-old spent 2019 in the upper minors in the Twins' system, struggling to a 7.24 ERA.

  • Zack Weiss: Released by Twins

Weiss was released by the Twins on Monday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports. The 27-year-old has thrown 27.1 innings at the Double-A and Triple-A levels this season, struggling to a 7.24 ERA. He has one career big-league appearance under his belt (last season with the Reds), in which he faced four batters, walking two of them and allowing two homers. He doesn't look to be particularly close to getting the opportunity to bring his ERA down from infinity any time soon.

  • Twins' Zack Weiss: Heads to Minnesota

Weiss signed a minor-league deal with the Twins on Friday, Brandon Warne of Zone Coverage reports. Weiss was released by Cincinnati in early September after spending the past six years in the organization. He only made one big-league appearance during that time -- in April of 2018 -- during which he gave up four earned runs on two hits (two home runs) and two walks while failing to record an out. Weiss spent a majority of this past season at Triple-A, and he will likely report to Minnesota's Triple-A club this coming spring.

  • Zack Weiss: Cut loose by Reds

Weiss was released by the Reds on Saturday. Weiss made just one appearance for the big club this season, allowing four runs on a pair of walks and a pair of homers without recording an out. The 26-year-old also struggled during his time with Triple-A Louisville, posting a 9.00 ERA across 11 innings.

  • Reds' Zack Weiss: Optioned back to Louisville

Weiss was sent down to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. In a corresponding move, the Reds activated Brandon Finnegan (biceps) from the 10-day disabled list. Weiss was previously brought up to the majors earlier this week but only appeared in one game, giving up four earned runs off two home runs and a pair of walks while failing to record an out against St. Louis on Thursday.

  • Reds' Zach Weiss: Optioned to Triple-A

Weiss was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday. The Reds signed Yovani Gallardo to a big-league deal, so they needed to clear a spot on the roster and Weiss was the casualty. Weiss should provide organizational bullpen depth this season and is unlikely to get any high-leverage innings.

  • Reds' Zach Weiss: Added to 40-man roster

Weiss was added to the 40-man roster Monday. Weiss will be protected from the Rule 5 draft now that he's on the 40-man roster. He spent the bulk of the 2017 season at Double-A Pensacola. He posted a 2.89 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 24 games (28 innings) while striking out batters at a solid clip of 11.8 K/9.

  • Reds' Zach Weiss: Chance to win a bullpen spot

Weiss has a chance to win a bullpen spot with the Reds out of spring training. The 2013 sixth-round pick turned in a great year at Double-A Pensacola last year, posting a 2.42 ERA and a 68:14 K:BB in 52 innings. The Reds' bullpen is pretty wide open, as with many spots on the team. Working against him is that he's not on the 40-man roster, but he's also the type of player that the Reds won't worry about starting his service time clock.
