Desmond Lindsay: Let go by Mets
Lindsay was released by the Mets on Tuesday, Jacob Resnick of SNY reports.
The 2015 second-round pick opened 2021 at Double-A but has been let go after posting a .155/.269/.310 slash line with 33 strikeouts in 67 plate appearances. Lindsay was unable to live up to his draft pedigree and has mostly been stuck in the lower minors.

Mets' Desmond Lindsay: Undergoes elbow surgery
Lindsay underwent surgery on the ulnar nerve in his elbow this week, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
Lindsay, one of the top prospects in the Mets' organization, had been dealing with elbow issues all season with Low-A Columbia and finally settled with going under the knife. The operation brings an end to a tough season for the 20-year-old, as he hit just .220 with 77 strikeouts over 65 games for Columbia and will now set his sights on a rebound season in 2018.

Mets' Desmond Lindsay: Rough start at Low-A
Lindsay, 20, is batting just .176/.344/.311 with two home runs, 11 RBI and four steals through 23 games for Low-A Columbia.
For perspective, Lindsay has a worse batting average right now than teammate and fellow outfielder Tim Tebow. Lindsay is patient at the dish, but has struggled to make contact, fanning 29 times through those 23 contests. Due to his contact issues, Lindsay is a long ways away from the big leagues.
