  • Padres' Logan Gillaspie: Lands on IL with oblique strain

    The Padres placed Gillaspie on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a left oblique strain. Gillaspie appeared to suffer the injury during the seventh inning of Saturday's loss to the Rays, and he will undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury. In corresponding moves, David Morgan's contract was selected from Double-A San Antonio and Bryan Hoeing (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day IL.

  • Padres' Logan Gillaspie: Moves up to majors

    The Padres selected Gillaspie's contract from Triple-A El Paso prior to Sunday's game against the Cubs. Before being non-tendered by the Padres in November, Gillaspie made nine appearances at the big-league level in 2024, logging a 7.15 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 11.1 innings. He'll likely be ticketed for a middle-relief role as he heads back to San Diego.     The Padres signed Gillaspie to a minor-league contract Dec. 12, per his MLB.com player profile. Gillaspie is a 27-year-old right-hander who began his professional career playing on the independent circuit before getting a look in the Brewers organization in 2018. He's appeared in the majors each of the past three campaigns -- the first two with Baltimore and last season with San Diego -- compiling a 5.02 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB over 37.2 innings covering 37 regular-season appearances (all out of the bullpen). Gillaspie will serve as organizational bullpen depth now that he's back in the Padres' minor-league system.
