  • Orioles' Logan Gillaspie: Picks up first big-league win

Gillaspie (1-0) allowed a hit in a scoreless inning to earn the win Sunday over the Yankees. Gillaspie worked the sixth inning and became the pitcher of record when the Orioles took the lead for good in the top of the seventh. The 25-year-old righty has made three appearances since his latest call-up Sept. 26, allowing two runs (one earned) over 4.2 innings while recording four strikeouts. He's pitched to a 3.24 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 9:2 K:BB through 16.2 major-league innings this year, though he's worked almost exclusively in a middle-relief role.

Gillaspie was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday. Gillaspie's last major league stint came in mid-August when he threw 1.2 scoreless innings over two appearances. Keegan Akin was optioned down to Norfolk in order to make room for Gillaspie.

  • Orioles' Logan Gillaspie: Pitching well in low-leverage role

Gillaspie allowed a hit and a walk with one strikeout in a scoreless inning during Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Cubs. Gillaspie has kept runs off the board in eight of his nine appearances this season, and this was just the third time he's allowed multiple baserunners. The 25-year-old has pitched to a 1.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 3:2 K:BB and a blown save in nine innings. He's likely had a little good luck on his side so far, but he's also been effective keeping the ball in the yard and limiting walks. Gillaspie will likely continue to pitch in a low-leverage role going forward.

Between stops at Triple-A and Double-A Bowie this season, the 25-year-old Gillaspie has delivered a 3.14 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over nine relief appearances.

  • Orioles' Logan Gillaspie: Sent to Double-A

Gillaspie was optioned to Double-A Bowie on Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Gillaspie had a 5.60 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 36:8 K:BB with Bowie last season and didn't have a realistic chance of making Baltimore's Opening Day roster. He could move up to Triple-A Norfolk before long with a strong start to the Double-A campaign.
