Campero hit a solo home run in his lone at-bat in Saturday's 8-2 win over the Nationals.
Campero has been up with the big club since June 20, covering for the absence of Jorge Soler (back), but LaMonte Wade has claimed a strong-side platoon role in right field. Campero made his impact off the bench Saturday, going deep in the eighth inning for his first homer of the season and the second of his young career. He's batting .222 (4-for-18) with a stolen base and a 2:4 BB:K across 20 plate appearances this season. Soler took batting practice Saturday and could be closing in on a return, and it seems likely Campero would be sent back down to Triple-A Salt Lake to get more consistent playing time once Soler is activated.

Angels' Gustavo Campero: Rehabbing in rookie ball
Rotowire
Campero (ankle) began a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Thursday.
Campero has been on the injured list for nearly a month due to inflammation in his left ankle. Now that he's been cleared to return to a competitive setting, it shouldn't be too long before he's activated off the IL. However, since the 27-year-old went down with an injury, the Angels have recalled Matthew Lugo and returned Mike Trout from the IL, so Campero may not have a path to playing time with the big club once he's healthy.

Angels' Gustavo Campero: Lands on IL with ankle injury
Rotowire
The Angles placed Campero on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to May 7, due to left ankle inflammation.

Angels' Gustavo Campero: Sent to Salt Lake
Rotowire
The Angels optioned Campero to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.
Campero put together a solid spring, going 6-for-18 with two RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base over 12 games. However, the 27-year-old slashed just .239/.271/.348 across 48 plate appearances with the Angels last year, so he'll return to Triple-A to continue developing at the plate.

Angels' Gustavo Campero: Nabs third steal
Rotowire
Campero went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Rangers.
The 27-year-old switch hitter swiped his third bag in 11 games since his late-season promotion, a stretch in which he's also batting .260 (10-for-38) with three RBI and five runs. Campero didn't come into the season with much of a prospect profile, but after slashing .279/.392/.472 in 107 games between Double-A Rocket City and Triple-A Salt Lake this year and then holding his own in a big-league cameo, he may have a spot in the Angels' outfield plans for 2025.

Angels' Gustavo Campero: Receives first call-up
Rotowire
The Angels selected Campero's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.
Campero has spent most of the season at Double-A Rocket City, where he posted an .888 OPS with 14 home runs and 29 steals in 93 games before earning a promotion to Salt Lake in August. The 26-year-old isn't likely to have a regular role with Anaheim, but he could still see some opportunities during the final two weeks of the regular season. He caught 34 games in the minors in 2023, but he's played exclusively in the corner outfield or at designated hitter in 2024.
