  • Ryan Dorow: Ends playing career

Dorow announced his retirement from professional baseball Wednesday.

A 30th-round pick in the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, Dorow spent his entire seven-year professional career in the Rangers organization. He received a cup of coffee in the majors with Texas during the 2021 season, going hitless with a walk in seven plate appearances. Dorow spent the entire 2023 campaign on Triple-A Round Rock's 60-day injured list after suffering a shoulder injury during spring training that required season-ending surgery.

  • Rangers' Ryan Dorow: Suffers separated shoulder

Dorow has been diagnosed with a separated left shoulder as a result of a play at the plate during Sunday's Cactus League game versus the Mariners, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.

Dorow will undergo further evaluation before a determination on how to handle the injury is made. The 27-year-old made his major-league debut in 2021 but is in camp this year as a non-roster invitee after struggling in the minors in 2022.

  • Rangers' Ryan Dorow: Moves back to Round Rock

The Rangers optioned Dorow to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

Even with the Rangers' active roster expanding from 26 to 28 men Wednesday, Dorow was sent out while Texas reinstated Charlie Culberson (COVID-19) and Kohei Arihara (shoulder) from the injured list and called up reliever Hyeon-Jong Yang from Triple-A. After receiving his first big-league call-up last week, Dorow appeared in three games and went hitless over six at-bats.

  • Rangers' Ryan Dorow: Makes MLB debut

Dorow started at third base and went 0-for-3 with a walk in Thursday's 10-6 loss to Cleveland.

Dorow became the 24th rookie used by Texas this season. The list of currently injured Rangers includes third basemen Brock Holt (illness) and Charlie Culberson (illness), leaving opportunities for players like Dorow, Andy Ibanez and Yonny Hernandez. Dorow was a 30th-round pick in 2017 out of Adrian College (Michigan).

  • Rangers' Ryan Dorow: Joins big club

Dorow was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock prior to Tuesday's game against Cleveland, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.

With Jonah Heim (undisclosed) and Drew Anderson (undisclosed) being placed on the COVID-19 IL, Dorow and Hyeon-Jong Yang join the active roster as replacement players. It marks Dorow's first career trip to the majors, and given that he's slashed just .210/.305/.359 at Round Rock, he's likely to simply provide infield depth in the coming days.
