  • Mariners' Easton McGee: Dispatched to minors

The Mariners optioned McGee to Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday. McGee was one of seven players Seattle sent out of big-league camp Sunday in the team's latest round of roster cuts. The 25-year-old right-hander is entering his first season in the Mariners organization after being acquired from the Red Sox in November. McGee, who received a cup of coffee in the majors with Tampa Bay in 2022, otherwise spent the entire 2022 campaign at Triple-A Durham, where he logged a 5.43 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 82:20 K:BB across 107.2 innings.

  • Mariners' Easton McGee: Dealt to M's

The Mariners acquired McGee from the Red Sox on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations. McGee will take up a spot on the Mariners' 40-man roster, but because he still has three minor-league options remaining, Seattle will have the luxury of stashing him at Triple-A Tacoma to begin the 2023 campaign if he's unable to secure a spot in the big club's Opening Day bullpen. The 24-year-old righty made his big-league debut with the Rays in 2022, tossing three scoreless frames in his lone appearance out of the bullpen.

  • Red Sox's Easton McGee: Scooped up by BoSox

The Red Sox claimed McGee off waivers from the Rays on Wednesday. Boston didn't formally activate McGee prior to Wednesday's contest, so he won't be available out of the bullpen while the Red Sox close out their regular season Wednesday against the right-hander's former Rays organization. McGee made his big-league debut Sunday in Houston, giving up an unearned run in three innings out of the bullpen.

  • Rays' Easton McGee: Booted off 40-man roster

The Rays designated McGee for assignment Monday. Even though he impressed while working three innings and allowing an unearned run in long relief in his MLB debut during Sunday's 3-1 loss to Houston, McGee finds himself as the latest victim of Tampa Bay's continual roster churn. The Rays selected the contract of right-hander Kevin Herget to replace McGee in the bullpen.

  • Rays' Easton McGee: Three relief innings in debut

McGee allowed one unearned run on four hits and no walks while striking out one over three innings in Sunday's 3-1 loss against Houston. In his major-league debut, McGee entered the game in the sixth inning with the Rays down 2-1 and pitched well. He surrendered just one unearned run on a Jonathan Aranda throwing error and a Jeremy Pena base hit in the seventh inning. McGee may get one or two more looks before the end of the regular season, but it is unclear whether he will make it onto the playoff roster.
