Jesse Rogers@JesseRogersESPN15H agoA couple of Cubs notes: Matt Shaw, slated to play 3b, has been slowed by an oblique. Not serious right now. Also, Craig Counsell blamed himself for some poor communication with Seiya Suzuki last season: "Sometimes the language barrier makes you lazy. That's on me."

Jesse Rogers@JesseRogersESPN16H agoThe Cubs brought in 5 pitchers who threw in the postseason over the last 2 years, including 4 relievers who pitched on teams in October just last year. Jesse Rogers@JesseRogersESPN2D agoI think part of the narrative with Bregman/Cubs was how crappy it was for hitters -- like Cody Bellinger -- last season at Wrigley. Notice how he didn't opt out. Bregman clearly needed a bigger guarantee in years (5-6) and ultimately $$ in order to sign in Chicago.
