  • Twins' Luke Keaschall: Two hits, steal in debut

Keaschall went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 6-4 loss to Atlanta. Keaschall had a successful major-league debut, taking little time to check off a few firsts. He supplied an RBI single and a steal in the second inning and scored his first run after doubling in the fourth. The top prospect has a bit of speed in his game, as evidenced by his 24 bases between High-A Cedar Rapids and Double-A Wichita last year. He also swiped four bags on five attempts over 14 games with Triple-A St. Paul prior to his call-up this year. The 22-year-old is up to provide extra infield depth as the Twins deal with a handful of injuries, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him carve out a decent share of playing time while in the majors.

  • Twins' Luke Keaschall: Returns to second base

Keaschall played second base for half of a Triple-A spring training game Tuesday, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports. It was his first game in the field after undergoing Tommy John surgery last August. He made a strong impression against major-league spring competition by hitting a home run with an .813 OPS while playing DH and pinch hitting. He'll likely begin the season at Double-A but could be in the majors this summer.

  • Twins' Luke Keaschall: Logs hit in first spring game

Keaschall went 1-for-2 in Minnesota's spring training opener Saturday. He appeared as a pinch hitter and stayed in the game at DH as he isn't able to play in the field due to his recovery from Tommy John surgery last August. Keaschall has been taking grounders at second base but not throwing once he gets the ball. He could be cleared to begin throwing by the middle of March, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports. Keaschall almost surely isn't going to make the Opening Day roster, but he should debut during the 2025 season after slashing .303/.420/.483 with 15 home runs and 23 stolen bases between High-A Cedar Rapids and Double-A Wichita in 2024.

  • Twins' Luke Keaschall: Invited to spring training

The Twins have extended Keaschall (elbow) an invitation to major-league camp during spring training, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Keaschall almost surely isn't going to make the Opening Day roster, but he should debut during the 2025 season after slashing .303/.420/.483 with 15 home runs and 23 stolen bases between High-A Cedar Rapids and Double-A Wichita in 2024. The 22-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery last August, but while the Twins might take things slowly with his throwing early on in camp, he is expected to be ready for the start of the season.

  • Twins' Luke Keaschall: Undergoing Tommy John surgery

Keaschall will undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Keaschall has battled elbow problems for much of the season, although it hasn't affected his production as the 21-year-old is slashing .303/.420/.483 with 15 homers and 23 stolen bases between High-A Cedar Rapids and Double-A Wichita. Because he's a position player, having the surgery now will give Keaschall a shot to be recovered in time for spring training. Assuming he's healthy, Keaschall could debut for the Twins in 2025.

  • Twins' Luke Keaschall: Named to Futures Game

Keaschall was selected to represent the Twins in the 2024 All-Star Futures Game, MLB.com reports. He's hitting .307 with two home runs and a .857 OPS in 37 games since being promoted to Double-A Wichita. Keaschall replaced Brooks Lee, who was called up to the majors last week. Keaschall, the 49th overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, has maintained good walk rates (13.6%) and decent strikeout rates (21.1%) at Double-A.

  • Twins' Luke Keaschall: Strong numbers at High-A

Keaschall is hitting .327 with six home runs and a .976 OPS in 43 games at High-A Cedar Rapids. He also has 14 stolen bases. Keaschall has strong walk rates (16.4%) and strikeout rates (14.1%) as well. The 49th overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft could be promoted to Double-A soon.

  • Twins' Luke Keaschall: Limited to DH

Keaschall will be limited to DH for a few weeks due to an arm injury, Jeff Johnson of the Cedar Rapids Gazette reports. Keaschall was the 49th overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft. He hit .288 with three home runs and a .891 OPS in 31 games between three levels in 2023. We should get a better read on his outlook with a full season at High-A.
