Rockies' Tyler Nevin: Sent to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nevin has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.

The Rockies have mentioned Nevin and Colton Welker as potential options at first base in the future, given that they are both close to the majors and Colorado seems likely to decline Daniel Murphy's mutual option for 2021. Nevin took advantage of the hitter-friendly conditions at Asheville and Lancaster in 2017 and 2018, but his slash line dipped to .251/.345/.399 in the more neutral conditions at Double-A Hartford.

Rockies' Tyler Nevin: Could get shot at 1B in 2021
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nevin or Colton Welker will have a chance to play first base for the Rockies in the coming years, according to farm director Zach Wilson, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

Wilson notes that Ryan McMahon has found a home at second base, so as things stand, it could be Nevin or Welker, assuming the Rockies decline Daniel Murphy's mutual option for 2021. Michael Toglia is the best first base prospect in the system, but he is at least a year behind Nevin and Welker. Nevin took advantage of the hitter-friendly conditions at Asheville and Lancaster in 2017 and 2018, but his slash line dipped to .251/.345/.399 in the more neutral conditions at Double-A Hartford.

Rockies' Tyler Nevin: Contract purchased by Colorado
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nevin's contract was selected by the Rockies on Wednesday.

The move protects the 22-year-old from being exposed to the Rule 5 draft. His .251/.345/.399 slash line for Double-A Hartford last season was good enough for a 122 wRC+, but he still likely needs time at the Triple-A level before earning his first career callup.

Rockies' Tyler Nevin: Homers in Double-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nevin went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk for Double-A Hartford on Thursday.

It's been tough sledding for Nevin in Double-A so far, as he's sporting a .222/.337/.316 slash line through 212 at-bats after lighting up High-A Lancaster with an .889 OPS in 378 at-bats last season. He's a talented hitter, as demonstrated by his .289/.364/.434 career slash line in the minors, so hopefully Thursday's long ball is a sign the 22-year-old is starting to adjust to the Eastern League competition.

Rockies' Tyler Nevin: Sent to minor-league camp
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nevin was reassigned to minor-league camp on Monday.

Nevin earned a big-league camp invitation on the back of a .328/.386/.503 season for High-A Lancaster last season. He'll likely head to Double-A Hartford to open the year and could push for a big-league callup in 2020.

Rockies' Tyler Nevin: Invited to big-league camp
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nevin was invited to join the Rockies' major-league camp Wednesday.

Nevin hasn't yet appeared above High-A, so he won't be considered for a big-league roster spot this spring. His .328/.386/.503 line at High-A Lancaster last season earned him the chance to spend a few weeks with Colorado's major-league staff, a staff he'll be hoping to play for on a regular basis in a year or two.
