Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Joins player pool
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Mauricio was added to the Mets' 60-man player pool Monday, Anthony DiComo of reports.

Although he wasn't with the team during spring training or summer camp, Mauricio will develop at the Mets' alternate training site among other top prospects. The shortstop is the No. 1 fantasy prospect in the Mets' system but shouldn't reach the majors during the abbreviated 2020 season. In 116 games with Low-A Columbia last season, the 19-year-old hit .268 with four home runs, 37 RBI and 99 strikeouts.

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Wrapping up solid July
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Mauricio is slashing .274/.330/.405 through 22 games in July for Low-A Columbia with one home run, one stolen base in four attempts and a 6:18 BB:K.

While the 18-year-old hasn't been setting the world on fire in the Sally League, posting a wRC+ of 104 as a teenager in full-season ball is still impressive. Mauricio remains the No. 1 fantasy prospect in the Mets' system, and while he's still likely a few years away from the majors, he could put together a breakout at any time if the rest of his skill set starts to catch up to his hit tool.

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: On fire for Fireflies
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Mauricio went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a solo home run and two additional runs scored for Low-A Columbia on Thursday.

The Mets' No. 1 fantasy prospect following the graduation of Pete Alonso, Mauricio has put together a nine-game hitting streak and hit safely in 14 of his last 16, slashing .353/.366/.544 over that stretch with seven doubles, two homers and a steal. He still isn't showing much patience, posting a 1:10 BB:K during those 16 games, but given that he won't turn 19 until next April, his ability to barrel the ball consistently at such a young age gives him sky-high upside.

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Fast start at Low-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Mauricio went 4-for-6 with a run scored and an RBI for Low-A Columbia on Sunday.

After an 0-for-4 performance Opening Day, Mauricio has gone on a tear, hitting safely in eight straight games and pushing his slash line to .368/.400/.395. The 18-year-old does have a worrying 1:10 BB:K and has gone 0-for-2 in stolen base attempts, but it's not a surprise that older competition has been able to find some flaws in his game. Mauricio's upside is elite if he puts everything together, and the Mets will be patient with the organization's No. 4 fantasy prospect.

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Assigned to Low-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Mauricio will begin the season with Low-A Columbia, Mike Rosenbaum of reports.

This could be viewed as an aggressive assignment for the 18-year-old, but it's not surprising given that Mauricio held his own at rookie ball in 2018. The Mets' No. 4 fantasy prospect is still filling out and is a long way from being major-league ready, but he has the upside to be a force if he grows into his power without losing the ability to make the type of contact he's already displayed against older competition.
