• Twins' Daniel Duarte: Moved to 60-day IL

The transaction clears a spot on the Twins' 40-man roster for right-hander Ronny Henriquez, whose contract was selected from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move.   Duarte will undergo season-ending elbow surgery on May 8, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Duarte initially landed on the injured list due to a triceps strain, and he will now need to go under the knife. It's unclear whether or not the 27-year-old's procedure will be a Tommy John surgery or some other operation, but it will put an early end to his 2024 campaign nonetheless. He allowed one earned run and struck out three batters through four innings across two appearances.

  Duarte struck out one batter in a perfect inning and earned a save during Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Pirates. Duarte was given his first career save opportunity in the 10th inning and had no trouble closing out the 6-5 win. It was his first MLB appearance since Aug. 5 after he was added to Sunday's roster as the 27th man. Duarte owns a 3.86 ERA with a 16:10 K:BB through 18.2 MLB innings this season. Alexis Diaz recorded five outs and earned the win Sunday.
