Andre Drummond keeps promise to be high schooler's prom date
Andre Drummond accompanied a high school senior to her prom.

Sometimes all you have to do is ask. That's all Raquel Smith did back in January.
Curious if Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond would be her prom date, Smith just asked him via Twitter. He said he would but only if she could get her request to be retweeted 12,000 times in just two weeks. A tough challenge but Smith was able to get close enough for Drummond's liking.

Drummond not only accompanied Smith to her prom on Wednesday night, he dressed the part as well.

While looking dapper is a key aspect of being a good prom date, Drummond even followed proper prom tradition by letting Smith pin a boutonniere on his blazer.

Smith's principal Patrick Watson told the Detroit Free Press that Drummond was an exemplary date:
Watson said the school knew for months Drummond would be accompanying Smith. But officials were insistent that the high-profile date not overshadow the prom.
"He was absolutely amazing," Watson said. “He stayed at prom almost two hours, was social with everyone, he was very nice. Of course even the adults wanted pictures and he was very accommodating. He was just an unbelievable."
While this may have been a simple thing for Drummond to do, Smith will forever remember going with the Pistons center to her prom.
