  • Dusty Hannahs: Dealing with ankle soreness

Hannahs did not play in Saturday's G League contest against South Bay due to left ankle soreness. It's a positive sign that Hannahs is dealing with soreness, and he shouldn't miss as much time compared to if he were dealing with a strain or more serious structural damage. The Hustle play Tuesday but then take a week off before their next game on Feb. 19. It would make sense for Hannahs to sit until the 19th, though it remains to be seen how the process will play out. It's worth noting that John Konchar was transferred back to the G League yesterday, perhaps in a corresponding move to cover the loss of one of the team's best shooters in Hannahs.

Hannahs has seen plenty of opportunities lately, as he's averaging 19.2 field-goal attempts over his last six games. With Yuta Watanabe, John Konchar and Josh Jackson all recently recalled to the Memphis Grizzlies, Hannahs has remained one of the team's most reliable scorers while finding even more volume. Other members benefitting from the recent departures are Shaq Buchanan and Marquis Teague, who are averaging 17.6 and 19.3 points respectively over their last three games compared to their season averages of 5.6 and 10.8 points.

Friday also marked the fourth time in the past six games that Hannahs has dropped at least 30 points. The Hustle got three players, including two starters in Jarrod Uthoff (shoulder) and John Konchar (concussion), back from injury Friday, and the team performed like the offensive juggernaut it's capable of being on a nightly basis.

  • Dusty Hannahs: Leads team in scoring

Hannahs tallied 21 points (8-12 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal across 20 minutes of G League action during Monday's 122-92 victory over the Santa Cruz Warriors. Due to some roster reshuffling, Hannahs saw his fewest minutes of the season Monday, though he made them count with an efficient shooting night. With Jarrod Uthoff (shoulder) and John Konchar (concussion) both out, the Hustle received Bruno Caboclo and Marko Guduric from the Grizzlies to fill some minutes and play extended minutes, which they're not seeing with the Grizzlies. It's unclear how long the two hired guns will remain in the G League, but those with stock in Hannahs would prefer it to be short-lived, as they're threatening his fantasy production.

  • Dusty Hannahs: Efficient shooting in loss

Hannahs registered 30 points (12-18 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), two rebounds and one assist across 32 minutes during Monday's 145-136 G League loss to the Iowa Wolves. Hannahs bounced back from a 4-for-13 shooting performance Saturday to hit 66.7 percent of his shots Monday night. The 26-year-old was relied on for more offensive production after starter Yuta Watanabe exited the game during the second quarter with an eye injury and did not return. It's unclear how long Watanabe will be out, though Hannahs, along with Josh Jackson, Jarrod Uthoff and Matt Mooney, may see an uptick in usage while the Japanese forward remains out.

Hannahs buried seven threes and nearly matched his season high of 31 points. It's difficult to predict when the 26-year-old will explode offensively due to the depth of talent on the roster, but he's capable of leading the team in scoring on any given night. Through 18 games, Hannahs is averaging 20.9 points on 47.7 percent shooting along with 2.4 assists and 2.0 rebounds.

  • Dusty Hannahs: Scores 24 in loss

Hannahs registered 24 points (6-11 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 7-7 FT), one rebound and one assist across 25 minutes off the bench during Friday's 104-101 G League loss to the Drive. Hannahs shot the ball well and was perfect from the charity stripe on his way to stacking up 24 points Friday. He nearly had 26, as his acrobatic layup that would have taken the lead in the final seconds rolled off the rim, handing the Hustle only its second loss of the year. After a season-low 27.3 field-goal percentage in his first game back from a two-game absence, Hannahs has since shaken off the rust and picked up from where he left off before the injury. He's hit nine of 15 threes in the past two contests and 17 of 28 overall.
