  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Available to play Thursday

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Ruled out Tuesday

Noel won't play in Tuesday's game against the Knicks due to left knee soreness. Noel has received inconsistent playing time this season, and the return of Isaiah Stewart would've made any playing time for him unlikely. Noel's next chance to suit up will arrive Thursday against the Mavericks.

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Logs 19 minutes in season debut

Noel recorded two points (0-3 FG, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 18 minutes during Monday's 110-108 loss to the Bucks. Noel came off the bench in his season debut, providing basically nothing outside of his typical defensive contributions. He is an odd fit for the rebuilding Pistons, but he should certainly see regular minutes, at least until Jalen Duren is back on the floor. We have witnessed Noel put up 12-team value in limited minutes in the past, but he should be viewed as only a streaming candidate based on more recent history.

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Expected to debut Monday

Coach Dwane Casey said that he expects Noel to make his team debut Monday against Milwaukee, Johnny Kane of Bally Sports Detroit reports. Noel dealt with a foot issue prior to the regular season but hasn't been on the Pistons' injury report. However, he was still working on his conditioning, and Casey said that the center would only be available in an emergency. Both Marvin Bagley (knee) and Jalen Duren (ankle) are sidelined Monday, so Noel will likely have the chance to see some minutes against the Bucks.

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Still battling injury

Pistons coach Dwane Casey said Wednesday that Noel (foot/conditioning) has not made it through an entire practice yet, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports. Noel has not played this season yet and isn't listed on the team's injury report. However, Casey did mention that Noel could play some minutes if needed but likely only in an emergency. So it doesn't appear that the 28-year-old center will return to the lineup in the next set of games.

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Not on injury report

Noel (foot) isn't on the injury report for Friday's game against the Knicks. Noel wasn't on the injury report ahead of Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Magic either, but coach Dwane Casey said before the game that the center would only be available in an emergency situation. So while his potential workload for Friday's matchup is unclear, it's encouraging that the Pistons aren't putting him on their injury report.

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Doesn't play Wednesday as expected

Noel (foot) didn't take the floor during Wednesday's season opener versus the Magic. Noel was deemed an emergency-only option for the contest and was able to take the night off in the end. Perhaps a few more rest days will allow him to make his season debut Friday against the Knicks.

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Unlikely to play Wednesday

Pistons coach Dwane Casey said that Noel (foot) would only play in Wednesday's opener versus the Magic in an emergency situation, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. Noel missed the entire preseason and only fully returned to practice Tuesday after recovering from a season-ending foot injury last season. Unless there are significant injuries to Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren, Noel will have to wait until Friday's game against the Knicks to make his season debut.

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Not listed on injury report

Noel isn't listed on the Pistons' injury report ahead of Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Magic. Noel was sidelined for the entire preseason while working his way back from a season-ending foot injury he suffered last February. However, he logged a full practice Tuesday and is expected to be available Wednesday, though he'll likely handle a reduced role while playing behind Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren.

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Goes through first full practice

Noel (foot) went through his first full practice Tuesday, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. Noel missed the Pistons' entire preseason slate while working to regain conditioning from the left foot injury he suffered last February as a member of the Knicks that resulted in him missing the rest of the 2021-22 campaign. As a rebuilding team, Detroit has no reason to push the veteran to play before he's 100 percent. With Marvin Bagley (knee) also shelved, Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren should handle almost all the center minutes.

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Likely to miss opener

Noel (foot) took part in pre-practice work during Sunday's team session, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports. Noel missed the Pistons' entire preseason slate while working to regain conditioning from the left foot injury he suffered last February as a member of the Knicks that resulted in him missing the rest of the 2021-22 campaign. Though Noel hasn't been shut down from activity, the fact that he's not yet practicing suggests that he won't be ready to play in Wednesday's season opener against the Magic and will require additional ramp-up time. With both Noel and Marvin Bagley (knee) likely sidelined to begin the campaign, the Pistons should have a spot in the frontcourt rotation available for rookie first-round selection Jalen Duren.

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Unavailable Friday

Noel (foot) has been ruled out for Friday's preseason game against the Grizzlies, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. Noel began some light team activity to begin the week but will be unavailable for the Pistons' final preseason game. Whether he's available for the team's regular-season opener against Orlando on Oct. 19 remains to be seen.

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Has begun light team activity

Noel (foot) started some light team activity Monday, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. While Noel still has some way to go in his return from a foot injury that cost him the final two months of the 2021-22 season, he at least appears to be making some progress on that front. Noel figures to provide some depth in the frontcourt when healthy and could be a more important piece than anticipated early -- if he's ready himself -- given the news that Marvin Bagley (knee) will miss time to open the regular season.

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Limited to start camp

Noel (foot/reconditioning) will be limited at the start of training camp, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports. Noel was forced to miss most of the 2021-22 season due to knee and foot issues, and it appears he's still working his way back to full health after he was traded from the Knicks to the Pistons during the offseason. Once Noel is fully recovered, he figures to provide frontcourt depth for the Pistons in 2022-23 behind starter Marvin Bagley and Isaiah Stewart.

  • Pistons' Nerlens Noel: Traded to Pistons

Noel (foot), along with Alec Burks, was traded Tuesday from the Knicks to the Pistons, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. The Knicks are also sending two future second-round picks and cash. New York is clearing cap space to make a plan on Jalen Brunson, so Noel and Burks are headed to Detroit in a salary dump. Noel will be competing for center minutes with young bigs Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duran. Kelly Olynyk is also in the mix, and it remains to be seen if the Pistons intend to keep Marvin Bagley. Noel appeared in just 25 games last season due to primarily knee and foot issues.

  • Knicks' Nerlens Noel: Out for finale

Noel (foot) will not play Sunday against the Raptors. Noel's foot injury has kept him out since early February. There was some hope that he'd be able to return at the end of the year, but that wasn't the case. He'll finish his second season with the Knicks averaging 3.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks in 22.5 minutes.
